At least 20 gray wolves could be moved to Isle Royale National Park over the next three years to replenish the population.Federal officials have tentatively made the decision, and the National Park Service says it will make the final decision in 30 days.
Only two wolves are believed to be left on the island. The population has decreased because of inbreeding and disease.
Wolves have played a valuable role in keeping the moose population in check and they have become a cherished symbol of the remote wilderness outpost.
